A Few Things About Me

• Hometown: I was born and raised in Weifang, Shandong Province, in eastern China. It's considered a smaller city by Chinese standards, even though more than 9 million people live there.
• First-generation student: I'm a first-generation college student. My parents began working at eighteen and have worked hard ever since. The opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. is a privilege I don't take for granted.
• Family: I met my wife, Bingyue, at the airport on our way to Ithaca.
• Sports: I've been a Los Angeles Lakers fan since the 2007–2008 season, although these days I play more badminton than basketball.
• Lucky numbers: My lucky numbers are 3 and 7, so you may notice "37" in many of my usernames and accounts.
• People: I'm pretty bad at recognizing faces, so please don't take it personally if I need a gentle reminder. But I do tend to remember people's stories, backgrounds, and life experiences.
• Colors: I'm also a bit color-blind, so if my outfit looks more creative than intended, please feel free to let me know.
